The artist I would like you to look up this week is known as Blu. You can find incredible examples of this artist's work at the website blublu.org. The questions I would like you to consider when blogging this week, are 1) how long do you think this animation took Blu to create, and was it worth the time 2) How was the animation created; what materials, tools, and items must Blu have used? and 3) Does Blu work alone?

I think it took him a long while. But sometimes looks are deceiving. It was definitely worth the time it took him to create this animation.
ReplyDeleteAt first it looks as if he used spraypaint, or some other type of paint. But I think he used chalk for the animation. He rubbed the drawing out everytime and you could see the remnants of his last drawing during every change.
He doesn't always work alone. On one of his wall paintings he worked with David Ellis. I think he also has help on other aspects of his work as well.

I think it took Blu a long time to create. It could have taken him six months to create. It is mentioned that there was an assistant at the end of the video, and I think that the assistant helped with the painting as well as the video, and I think it was worth the six months it may have taken him to do because I enjoyed the video. He may have used chalk or paint for the pictures, concrete walls and maybe a paint brush. He could have used a pencil to trace it out first.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ry that Blu may gave used spray-paint to create his animations. He could have used spray-paint because it dries fast and covers well, and it is used most for concrete wall art.

That would take a long time to do and have a hard time. because the time that you would take to paint it it would have to turn out right. you have to be spot on and have a good vision of the painting takes alot of talent.

I think it took him a long time to do. He had to have a plan drawn out before he started. He also had to have help. This is too big of painting to do by yourself in a short time. At the beginning it looks like he used chalk but as it goes on it looks like paint and then pencil when the people start to form. Someone had to video tape it while he was drawing because there are people walking by as the painting is changing. It was worth his time because there was always something new and it covered up all the graiti on the walls.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Ry. This must have taken him a long time to create, and it was definitly worth his time. He has truly created something amazing here. He probably used paint although the the use of chalk would make sense as Ry pointed out. Of course he must have also used a camera and computer. He doesn't work alone as you can tell by the credits.

i think its very hard to creat. and i think he have plan to paint before he started. i think he used some type of paint maybe spraypaint. it was worth his time because it cover up on the wall. and i think he cant paint alone. he do by team work.

I think the drawing on the first book of Blu took alot of time to create because it is a very complex drawing.It appears that he used pasetels to color the drawing. I believe he may sometimes work alone, but some of his works require some teamwork.

I think that it would take a really long time. I looks like it was spray paint. I think he did all the designing by himself but he needed help drawing. I agree with GoodGrade because it would of took a lot of talent.

I guess that the video took months, because he painted huge walls and needs to draw one picture over and over again by changing just little thinks. Therefore the needs to wait until the paint is dry and then over paint some spots and add the new lines. But the video is awesome and the time worth, because you don’t see that every day!
ReplyDeleteHe probably used paint, but also included real life items like ton and some lab dishes. I like these parts the most, because the it looks like its alive.
I also predict that he doesn’t work also. I bet he has some people how help set up the situation and help taking pictures and so on.
I love his designs and the whole flow; he started with one drawing and that moves through the city and develop to different creatures/shapes/things and often organisms come out of the old ones or get eaten from bigger ones and that remains me a lot of the circle of life.
And I have to agree with goodgrade also, that this needs talent.

I think that video take months, because you must to a lot of steps to paint a big wall like that! It takes a lot of time to draw a complex painting like that and it was worth the time!

ReplyDeleteIt must have taken Blu sometime to create this animation I would say weeks or months. I think it was worth it because he must have felt great after accomplishing something like that I would be proud of myself but then again I would never waste my time doing something that complicated. It was created with paint, walls, paint brushes, and spray paint. I think he worked mostly alone but he must have had help for parts of it. I agree with goodgrade, Blu has a lot of talent.
ReplyDeleteI think that this animation would’ve probably taken Blu a very long time to create; I would think a considerable amount of weeks to months? Maybe even years, depending on the size of the drawings and the time it took to draw each of them out. I believe that it was completely worth the time because to me his work is very mesmerizing and unique. It took him a lot of time and effort to create these animations and it took a lot of patience and determination. The animation was created with paint, spray paint, ladders, and walls of all sorts, alleys all over the place, the ground, sand, and a lot of thought! From what I saw it looked to me like Blu worked by himself a lot of the time, but could have possibly had some help on the more difficult tasks in his work.

ReplyDeleteBlu does not work alone, in some of the videos you can see other people helping, so no. I'm guessing he uses paint, maybe a water based paint so he can just wash the paint off when he is done. I agree with goodgrade,a painting job of this size has to take a lot of talent also. It was definitely worth the time, not many people would have the patience to wait months to complete something that takes that much work.
ReplyDeleteI think that his work takes a very long time, if not months to do. The looks of the objects that Blu bly uses, looks like it would be paint and LOTS of paintbrushes and rollers, along with ladders, too. He could do it by himself, but you can see others in the videos that are helping him. They could help him, but it seems that he would just tell them what to do.
